Ready to hit the sand? Winchester Bay offers 24-hour access to some of the most thrilling dunes on the Oregon Coast. It is perfect for early risers, night riders, and everyone in between.

Where to Stay

For full hookups and direct dune access, Umpqua Dunes Campground is your best bet. Prefer dry camping? Half Moon Bay offers a relaxed vibe close to the action, or you can head straight out onto the sand and set up at Douglas County Sand Camp.

Where to Park and Access the Sand

Bring your gear, your sense of adventure, and get ready to ride the rolling hills of golden sand from sunrise to sunset and beyond.

Did You Know?

  • All vehicles must display an OHV Permit. Visit www.store.oregonstateparks.org to purchase one online or vistit one of the local OHV rental companies.

  • All vehicles must have a red or orange flag 9' above the ground.

  • The OHV lane runs from Ork Rock Road to the parking lot at the OHV staging area.

    • Turn your lightbars and auxiliary lights OFF on the OHV lane.

    • 10 mph speed limit on OHV lane.

  • All riders must have an ATV Safety Education Card.

  • Adult supervision is required for youth operators under the age of 16.

  • Riders under 18 yrs old must wear a helmet and fit on their machine.

  • Riders with a suspended or revoked driver license cannot operate an OHV.

  • Please be responsible and follow all boundary closures. No OHVs on the beach in Winchester Bay.

  • If you pack it in, pack it back out. Help keep our dunes clean by disposing of your trash properly.

  • For your safety, watch the riders in front of you. Most riders go up Banshee Hill on the right side and down on the left side.

  • Stay to the right side on trails.

  • For the safety of you and others, law enforcement is the only one who should be running blue LED lightbars.

  • It is legal in Winchester Bay to ride on the designated paths to the Winchester Creek bridge (you can not cross it), down Ork Rock Road, and up to the Umpqua Lighthouse.
