Getting to Winchester Bay
Right Off Highway 101
Winchester Bay sits on the Southern Oregon Coast, just a few miles south of Reedsport on Highway 101. If you’re driving the Oregon Coast, it’s an easy stop to find. Turn toward Salmon Harbor and you’ll find the marina, campgrounds, restaurants and dune access all close together.
Coming from the south? Coos Bay is a good place to stock up on groceries and supplies before heading north. Coming from the north, Reedsport has groceries, fuel and the basics just a few minutes before you reach Winchester Bay.
Once you’re here, most of what you came for is close by.

A lot of the best things to do around Winchester Bay depend on what the coast is doing that day.
Check the weather before heading for the dunes or beach, look at the tides if you’re planning to crab, fish or explore the shoreline, and always check current Umpqua River bar conditions before heading offshore.

WHAT TO PACK FOR THE
Oregon Coast
Winchester Bay is pretty casual, but coastal weather can change quickly. A sunny afternoon can still come with wind, cool evenings or a little rain, so layers are your friend! Locals always throw in a hoodie when heading to the beach, just in case.

Local tip: don’t let a warm inland forecast fool you. Winchester Bay can be considerably cooler once you reach the coast.
